Boundless Mainnet Launches with Proof of Verifiable Work and ZK Coin
Boundless has officially transitioned from beta to mainnet, marking a significant milestone in blockchain scalability. The network introduces Proof of Verifiable Work and ZK Coin (ZKC), replacing traditional block mining with a focus on verifiable computation. Over 2,500 provers and 411,000 participants joined during the Mainnet Beta phase, with $71 million raised in the Kaito sale.
The foundational innovation traces back to RISC Zero's 2021 breakthrough, which enabled zero-knowledge proofs from Rust and Solidity code. This advancement democratized ZK technology, though a usable zkVM alone wasn't enough. Boundless now aims to prove blockchains can scale like the internet by rewarding computation rather than mining.
